Our Fight to Improve Food Security

We are looking to purchase a livable home with 5+ acres of farmable land in Southeast PA or Southwest NJ to raise ducks, goats, and grow fresh produce. This will be accomplished sustainably and with the utmost respect for the people, land and animals that will help us on our way. Our current fundraising goal is $10,000, earmarked for a downpayment on said property.

We will travel to nearby food deserts, disadvantaged communities, and impoverished areas to sell our home grown produce at cost (i.e., for no profit, only covering the cost of growing and transporting) to people in communities who otherwise lack access to affordable fruits and vegetables.

We will sell a portion of our crop at farmer's markets in the Southeast PA/South Jersey area, both to support our efforts monetarily and to raise awareness about the issues of food insecurity and food deserts in the US.

We will help to establish urban gardens and community farms, empowering neighborhoods to grow their own food. We will work with existing community organizations to acquire donations of land, supplies, and volunteer service to ready land for farming and gardening.

As we learn, we want to educate the next generation about the importance of sustainable agriculture and protecting our resources. This will be accomplished through partnerships with public schools and youth organizations.

This is about self-sufficiency, decreasing our neighbors' reliance on the corporate foodchain, and improving the health and quality of life of anyone we can. Every purchase or donation gets us closer to realizing this goal.
